In this episode, Observer reporter Patrick Michels speaks with Peggy Romberg, former CEO of Women’s Health & Family Planning of Texas, and Lenzi Sheible, president and cofounder of Fund Texas Choice. Romberg and Sheible were photographed for the Observer’s 60th anniversary issue to honor their work in making Texas a better place.

And later in the show, Austin writer Katie Matlack discusses how she and her neighbors wrestled with the fact that the man they knew, Steve McQuilliams, scarcely resembled the figure who shot up downtown Austin on Thanksgiving night.

This episode concludes our production of Observer Radio. We thank all of our listeners who’ve supported Observer Radio, and we give special thanks to the shows who provided a space for our stories to be heard: KEOS in College StationKOOP in Austin and Wimberley Valley Radio.
