Texas Is Failing Queer Students

Since 1954
Shanna Peeples, the 2015 National Teacher of the Year, taught middle and high school English in low-income schools in Amarillo, Texas. Currently, she is the Dr. John G. O’Brien Distinguished Chair of Education at West Texas A&M University. She was a recognized Harvard Teaching Fellow for graduate and undergraduate classes at the university, and is the author of Think Like Socrates: Using Questions to Invite Wonder and Empathy Into the Classroom.
