Texas Rollergirls

“Since it started in Austin almost a decade ago, the resurgence of roller derby has grown the former afternoon-TV sport from one league to over 700 leagues on six continents. Most of these leagues are women-only and flat-track. It is truly a grassroots operation, run by the skaters. I began photographing the Texas Rollergirls, a flat-track league, in 2004. Over this time I have seen how the sport and its camaraderie give these women confidence and strength.”
