Tell Us Your Rural Health Care Story

Texas is home to the largest number of rural hospital closures in the country—about a quarter of all closures have happened here. Texas also happens to be home to the highest proportion of uninsured people in the country. And the 86th Texas Legislature didn’t do anything about the state’s dismal health care system. In fact, Attorney General Ken Paxton is leading a coalition of conservative states attempting to dismantle the Affordable Care Act.

For rural Texans, that means driving long distances to doctors appointments, scrambling to find new insurance, and sometimes, it means someone is too far away for emergency care to arrive in time to save a life.
