454 Communities in Need! The National Library of Australia in Canberra, Australia, subscribes to The Texas Observer, and so does the high school library in Spur, Texas. All told, the Observer can be found iri over 400 library reading rooms, including 64 in colleges and universities in other states. Yet there are 454 public and county libraries in Texas that do not receive the Observer. Most librarians are pleased to discover the Observer, and the demand for it by library-users leads to repeated renewals with library funds. But they need someone to get them started for a year or two with a gift subscription. Please examine the list on both sides of this page for a city or town which is a sentimental favorite of yours, or for which you have a special concern. We hope you will give your favorite community a valuable supplement to the views expressed in the local press by getting its library on the Observer habit. You get a tax deduction for the amount of your gift subscriptions to these libraries. The rates are $12 for one year, $22 for two years, $30 for three years.
