COVID-19 and the Eviction Crisis Virtual Event
You’re invited to join the Texas Observer on October 21 at 6 p.m. for a virtual event examining the ongoing eviction crisis in Texas. Judge Jeremy Brown, who oversees eviction court proceedings in Harris County, Eric Kwartler, a public interest attorney in Houston, Jeff Reichman, a data analyst who studies evictions, and Yameko Frederick, a renter in Dallas, will join the Texas Observer‘s executive editor and housing reporter Megan Kimble to discuss how evictions are being filed and carried out around the state under the Centers for Disease Control moratorium, how those evictions will impact renters for years to come, and what steps you can take if you’re facing eviction in Texas.
Tickets for the event, which will take place on Zoom, are available for $5 via the form below. All tickets count as a donation to the Texas Observer, which is a 501(c)3 non-profit publication, and are tax-deductible. Proceeds go directly back into producing our hard-hitting, accountability journalism.
Ticket holders will receive a Zoom link and access instructions via email on the day of the event.
