Quincea��_era Club Series Author at Book People on Friday

This Friday, Book People in Austin will be holding an event honoring author and Observer contributor Belinda Acosta’s newest novel, Sisters, Strangers and Starting Over. Part of her award-winning Quinceañera Club series, the book tells the story of Beatriz Sánchez-Milligan, who takes in her 14-year-old niece Celeste after the girl is orphaned by Beatriz’s sister’s death. As Beatriz begins to plan a quinceañera for Celeste and disturbing evidence comes to light concerning Celeste’s mother’s death, the story explores the idea of family and what makes it work. Acosta, who was recently featured in the Observer’s Summer Books Issue, will be speaking, answering questions and signing copies of the book starting at 7 p.m.
