Arts writer Josh Rosenblatt performs a commercial-free postmortem on the annual SXSW festival.
"It was surreal"?? HUH? You can't do better than that? A little tired don't you think? Again, appalling, both in it's laziness and snobishness. Again I say: HIPSTER go home. There was a 'plenty of great rock on display. If you can't stand the heat and humidity, then get outta Central Texas!

Eastside? Eastside? Really? What is he trying to say? Westside? Hippies? Please Mr. HIPSTER, go back to Brooklyn and quit complaining. Did you tip your bartender for those drinks? People in Texas gotta make a livin and that aint gettin any easier. The view from 14th and Chicon don't look nuthin like what he saw. Gimme a break, man. Really. How bout that Goner showcase Saturday night? Sorry man, I loved seein free rock and roll and drinkin free beer. Sorry you don't know where to go and who to see.

What in the world is Josh Rosenblatt trying to say??? Really, I have no idea. He sounds like a sourpuss Newcomer whose complaints are no different than those of the hippie Oldtimers that he slams. For real, Josh, you've been here six years and can't figure out who to champion and who to emulate. Quite frankly, your identity crisis is showing. I'm surprised that The Observer printed this. What an amazing waste of column inches. SXSW is good for the Austin economy and good for the creative community. Like Austin itself, any good thing eventually will come to light with The Masses who will flock to it like a moth to flame. Who can blame the corporate world for wanting to grab that market? The only way to avoid that is to not HAVE a market. And that simply is not possible at this late date - the word has been getting out for years and now it's reached critical mass. Rosenblatt's attempt to reveal the obvious was sophmoric at best. Give the column inches to more deserving attempts.
