David Theis says this ambitious 4-hour biopic eschews the genre’s standard tropes. Most notably missing is any psychological insight into the characters. Still, the film shines in the quiet depth of Benicio del Toro’s portrayal of revolutionary Che Guevara and director Soderbergh’s craftsmanship.
