Clinton comes back after the break raring to draw out the differences between the candidates on health care.
Obama attacked her as proposing mandatory health insurance, and she insists that a mandate is what’s required to make a system work.
Obama points out that in Massachusetts, which forces the purchase of health insurance, there are people paying FINES because they can’t afford to buy mandatory health insurance.
Clinton says Obama’s plan has a mandate on parents and an associated fine on parents who don’t purchase insurance.
Obama defends his mandate as an AFFORDABLE mandate on parents.
Both candidates insist this is a substantive difference in their approaches to health care, but it’s hard to parse exactly what that difference is.
