Tancredo Talks Tough

Why settle for Rick Perry’s tokenism on sealing the border when there are Republican officials out there like soon-to-be ex-Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo, a GOP Presidential candidate. At least Tancredo is honest about what he hopes to do to the border. Rick always has you wondering whether he is just catering to the base. Tancredo really means it.
Of Perry’s cameras, Tancredo said, “They are only of course as good as the people you put behind them… What good is it? It is silly. I don’t know that your governor has the guts to do what’s necessary…”
So what’s necessary according to Tancredo? In a phone conversation with the congressman who was in New Hampshire yesterday I asked him about his vision for the border.
“I absolutely believe that a fence is necessary to protect [us] from the invasion that’s occurring,” Tancredo said. “It’s really three layers of defense,” he added, describing a 15-feet-high metal fence, curved at its top, with wire, then a patrol road, and then another fence (similar to what is described in the EIS). Tancredo said the fence would have to be “sensored” — to detect ruptures, ladders, and even whether someone is trying to dig under it.
“I’d go the length of the (U.S.-Mexico) border, and then I’d start on the northern border and go as far as possible,” he said.
Tancredo says the terrain and duty involved in border enforcement is perfect for training troops that will eventually head to Iraq or Afghanistan. He talked about a time he observed a training exercise featuring 100 Marines patrolling a section of the border, while utilizing unmanned aerial drones. Tancredo said the Marines’ leader praised the experience as the “best exercise” he could imagine for his troops.
The exercise led to the kind of greeting for the undocumented of which Tancredo approves.
“They said, ‘Hi! Welcome to America,’” he said. “‘Now spread ‘em…’”
It sure seems to be working in Iraq and Afghanistan, Tom.
As for the environmental impact, Tancredo said Congress has already given President Bush the power, in the REAL ID Act, to waive those issues. “The expense is worth it,” Tancredo said, “Because you have a real, physical barrier.”
Tancredo said the mayors in the Valley that don’t want a border fence are just a little too loyal to Mexico.
“They’ve got a constituency they’re trying to placate — and a loyalty to Mexico,” Tancredo said. “There is this loyalty question.” He said he told the mayors that if they disliked the idea so much, he’d build the wall around the northern limits of their cities.
Fortunately, Tancredo barely registers in the polls. He won’t be building any border walls on his own anytime soon.

I suggest to Rep. Tancredo that he use his upcoming out of work spare time to convince the people of Colorado to exercise their State’s rights and build a wall around Colorado. This would not only benefit the rest of the United States, by keeping people like Tancredo penned up and out of sight, but from the perspective of Coloradoans who dis-like Texans, it would keep said Texans out of Colorado. We can just stop in New Mexico to do our skiing.
It is indicative of Tancredo’s true lack of insight that he would stop The Wall at Brownsville, more or less. Terminating The Wall there leaves the entire Texas coastline vulnerable to hordes of Mexican Boat People, pouring ashore on Padre Island, across the Laguna Madre, and onto the King Ranch. And from there, it is just a short walk to the garden spots of Alice and Three Rivers. Or, with just a little bit more diesel fuel, they could pour ashore along the Matagorda Bay area.
Next time you speak with Mr. Soon To Be Former Rep. Tancredo, ask him about this gap in his plan.

A wall is a silly thing to spend money on. But attempting to make lite of the problem by the usual sneers won’t wash.
Illegal aliens would only be welcomed by people that want to erase America as a nation, aid business to get cheap labor or add strength to racist organizations. There are no other reasons to betray your country.

Mr. More, what “problem” are you talking about? There are at least two: One is controlling the international border with Mexico, and the other is the imbecilic plan to build a wall along that border. I’m not sure which problem you think I may have been making “lite” of, so just to clarify, it was the imbecilic wall. Sneers — usual or otherwise — about the wall and the intelligence of people who want to see it built seem to me to be a perfectly appropriate response. As are satire, sarcasm, and scorn. On the other hand, jingoistic expressions — “erase America…betray your country” — are indications that you need to adjust your hyperbole generator to a lower setting.

Mr. More,
What I have heard from the candidates during all debates and read what each candidate stands for. I believe that Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo, a GOP Presidential candidate is the only candidate that is willing to provide the greatest protection and provide the funding that is needed for both our borders, and seaports that 70% of the American legal citizens want accomplished NOW!
Congressman Tancredo is also wanting to immediately stop the funding and building of the monster SPP highway from tip of the southern coast of Mexico slicing through middle America to the northern tip of Canada. Which would allow unlicensed and unsafe vehicles carring illegal aliens, and drugs all across America.
Congressman Tancredo is also one of the few candidates that would stop the North American Union, Nafta, Tafta and all the free trade agreements that is set into place to destroy America and American jobs.
Congreeman Tancredo wants both the North American Union and the Sea Treaty stopped to protect America’s sovernity. I believe every legal citizen before he votes should find out how each candidate stands on all the above issues, the National ID act, what committees and what groups they belong to like the Skull and Cross Bones, instead of worrying about globle warming which probably will not occur for thousands of years if ever!
What is more important America’s sovernity, loss of all our privacy and rights, being under international laws, and allowing everyone and anyone to walk across our borders that want to kill all American citizens, blow our cities up, and force our country to become just another third world country with not laws, no jobs, no morals, run by the drug cartels and with people being terrified of a knock on their doors and their families being drug out of their home and having their heads cut off!
These are the facts of where our country is heading if the “We The People” do not wake up and stop being “Politically Correct” and vote for a President, Senators, and Congressmen who will fulfill the Oaths of Office. Who will not destroy or replace The Constitution. Who will enforce all our laws that are on the books and provide all the necessary funding Now! Then we must immediately remove them from office instead of waiting until their term ends!
I am so tired of our government betraying and selling out “We The People” the legal citizens of America and The United States Constitution and not enforcing our laws!
Sincerely,
From a Grandmother concerned for her grandson future.
