Get off Your Island, Wright

It would be unseemly of me to scorn the amusing ramblings of a naive young man. But it’s March, therefore I’m Mad.
I come to defend the basketball team from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. In a post yesterday — for which he will not be paid — my grossly misinformed colleague, Matt Wright, gratitiously slapped the Islanders, writing that they had no chance against No. 2 seed Wisconsin Freakin’ Badgers. Well, li’l fella, with four minutes left in the first half, those plucky Islanders were ahead 25-9. As of this writing, they lead by eight points at halftime.
Matt clearly has never seen the TAMCC play: the silky guard play of Josh Ervin and the bump-n-thump of center Chris Daniels, who’s 7-feet tall.
The worst part is that Matt Wright spent a good part of his youth in Corpus Christi! My god, man, show some love for the hometown boys. As a UT alum, he’s clearly become too blinded by burnt orange. Others of us on the Observer staff are rooting for the kids from the satellite campus on the Gulf to pull off the biggest upset of the tournament.
