Can’t We All Just Get Along…

January 13th, 2009 at 12:37 pm

Republicans ( aka Dan Patrick) floated a resolution today in the Senate Caucus to do away with the 2/3 rule if anything as pressing as oh say…voter ID or redistricting comes up. With the loss of Republican Kim Brimer and the addition of Democrat Wendy Davis, Republicans are concerned they might have a harder time passing such contentious issues as voter ID. You might remember that Senator Mario Gallegos, suffering from liver disease, was forced to leave his hospital room last session and vote from a hospital cot in the Senate to defeat Voter ID. As soon as the backslapping ends and family members leave the Capitol, the gloves will come off and the Senate will start its first battle over the resolution.
